Way of the Wicked
Sanctum almost defines a sleepy farming community. It is a humble town of 3750 people, sitting on the banks of Lake Parynthus in the Vale of Valtaerna. The village reeve and mayor is a humble man named Timon Lotte.
There are no brothels or seedy bars in Sanctum, and the taverns all close after dark. What is to be seen everywhere are priests — monks, lay clergy, visiting clergy and local church officials. There are more churches, temples and shrines per capita here than anywhere else in Talingarde. This is a community centered around religion. On the other hand, there is hardly a cheaper place to visit. In fact, a number of the inns are free for pilgrims. If you don’t mind sharing a common room full of believers it costs nothing to visit Sanctum.
The only tavern of note is “Halfway to Heaven House”, a drinking established popular with the halfling farmers in the Vale. This surprisingly raucous tavern reverberates with music, singing and dancing.
